Statement by First DPR of Kazakhstan to the UN Mr. Barlybay Sadykov

“The Almaty Process” on refugee protection and international migration is important, and example of Kazakhstan can be followed in the world”- says the Secretary-General-designate Mr. Antonio Guterres.
The First Deputy Permanent Representative of Kazakhstan to the United Nations Mr. Barlybay Sadykov made a statement at the informal plenary meeting of the United Nations General Assembly with the Secretary-General-Designate Mr. Antonio Guterres. He congratulated Mr. AntonioGuterres on his appointment as the next Secretary-General of the United Nations and assured him of further close cooperation of Kazakhstan with the United Nations in countering new challenges and threats the world faces now. As a new non-permanent member of the UN Security Council from 1 of January 2017 Kazakhstan will actively work on issues of countering terrorism, non-proliferation, food and water security.
Commenting on the statement Mr. A.Guterres noted, that ““The Almaty Process” on refugee protection and international migration is important and example of Kazakhstan can be followed in the world”.
“The Almaty Process” is a joint initiative of Kazakhstan, UNHCR and IOM launched in 2011 as a regional consultative process to address the multiple challenges, resulting from mixed migration in and around Central Asia.
