Kazakhstan uses the principles of the United Nations Universal Declaration on Human Rights into its founding documents. Kazakhstan’s rule of law initiatives are points of bilateral cooperation with the European Union and United States. A progressive rule of law in Kazakhstan is evidenced by Kazakhstan reform its post-Soviet criminal code and criminal procedure code.
Kazakhstan’s rule of law continues to strengthen around English Common Law. Foreign investors and multinational corporations who choose to operate inside the Astana International Financial Center, which will operate by English Common Law.
With funding from U.S. Agency for International Development, the American Bar Association implemented concluded in 2016 a Kazakhstan rule of law and judicial system support and modernization program. Additionally, a court monitoring program is funded by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs.
